Nurgle Army Update and various bits and pieces

Been working mainly on the beastmen unit but also worked on some ruins.

First out is the C38 Beastmen - Seacamel Man. Basically a hunchbacked bipedal Seahorse. Like the fact that it is the hunch that has plate armor.

Next is a ruin. I finished it off using a lot of pigment powder and pigment fixer. Great products for getting a worn look.

A few things in progress as well.

Another ruin - I have stomped "semi dry" liquid green stuff on it to add a bit of texture:

Next additions to the beastmen unit. Slugman, a Giant Snail and Goatman. Going to add a few animals such as the Giant Snail, a Giant beetle and various stuff. Thinks this will add a nice wild touch to the unit and ephasizing the beastmen are more beasts than men.

Thats all for this week / Hans

  1. More delicious weirdness. The Giant Snail looks very colourful. I also like the ruins; the colours you've chosen for the first piece match the miniatures very well. Are you planning more themed terrain for this project?

    1. Thanks Gareth!

Yes, the plan is to do a chaos wasteland terrain for warband gaming. Planning to do a smaller board but instead put in a bit more effort on it. I'll finished this second ruin and probably add a few weird looking trees (maybe one in the form of a Minotaur chaos altar) to start with and then I'll see.

  2. Your work is taking on the look of illustration rather than brushwork; a very difficult thing to do.
    Well done.

    1. That is a very nice compliment so many thanks!

I'm quite inspired by e.g. Ian Miller illustrations which might be visible on my shields so maybe the overall painting also got a hint of that inspirations.

      Thx/Hans

  3. You HAVE been busy.

Excellent stuff. Did you scratch build the sets or are they plaster moulds?

These beastmen are so lovely why didn't they continue in this vein...

    1. Thanks Minitrol!

I forgot to mention that the ruins are made by Warlord Games and are called Ruined Hamlet. I do like the look of these ruins and think that fit fantasy well even though (I think) they are intended for stuff like WW2. The kit if unfortunately not the best quality. The pieces don't fit, are skew and to much work is required really to make it look decent.

These beastmen are really great miniatures and after painting them very much on my all time miniature top list.

Thanks for stopping by / Hans

  4. Well, I have to say now they are on my top list too (and I even haven't painted some yet!).

What could you rgiant snail be for? Random encounters in the wastes? ;)

The pieces of your puzzle are looking really great but I have the feeling that the big picture will be even more enjoyable...

    1. Oh yes - the giant snail is a very typical creature for some random encounters. It will though be part of the beastmen unit.

Planning to add some various creature to this unit - a few beetles to be added as well for example and maybe a Beastmen rider or two. I haven't decided on how to apply the rules yet. Will probably just use all creatures as beastmen and maybe the beetles are just included for atmosphere and in from a game perspective not part of the unit. We'll see.

Think this will emphasize the beast quality of the beastmen and this "wilder" collective is very chaos to me. You kind of get a bit of a warband feel to the army.

      Thanks for stopping by! /Hans
